About the Artist

Katharine B. Strong is 93 years young; she was born in Morristown, NJ in 1916.  She is a wonderful mother who has touched so many lives with her joy of life and her love of the arts, especially the visual arts.  She is a self-taught artist who has been a member of the Mystic Art Association in Mystic, CT for many years. She enjoyed summer art classes at the Noank studio of Robert Brackman; he is famous for his portraitrature, including portraits of Charles Lindbergh and John D Rockefeller, Jr, and still lifes.  Kay loved watercolor classes that she took with local Princeton artists as well.  In more recent years, she studied with Christopher Zhang at the Mystic Art Association.

Her work is characterized by a solid sense of composition for she observed well and always "from life" and by a fine use of color.  She has an intuitive feeling for what she is painting and she captures the essence of her subject.  Her pictures reflect her personality for they have warmth, charm and a great affection for life.
