Biography

Jennifer Stratton is an up and coming young photographer from Princeton, New Jersey and is a sophomore Photography student at The University of the Arts in Philadelphia, PA. Her past experience has included internships at In Style magazine and JGK Inc. (a photo agency in New York). She is currently an assistant to local photographer Karen McLean, founder and director of Highland Studios. Karen and Jennifer have begun to collaborate and create work together that is also currently being showed at The Present Day Club in Princeton, NJ.

Jennifer is interested in all aspects of Photography and loves to explore new concepts in her work. Throughout high school Jennifer primarily focused on the idea of repetition and patterns. She would take an image and multiply it several times and then line it up to create a new abstract image. Although Jennifer still explores this concept, it is no longer her primary focus.

Most recently Jennifer has discovered light painting and long-exposure photography. Over the past year she has been developing different ways to execute these ideas using different objects that give off light. She has been exploring the numerous abstract shapes that these objects can create with a long exposure.

In addition to Jennifer’s personal work she has started to do some commercial work, including weddings, portraits, and band photography, in which she works with area bands to create cover-art and photograph live performances. She really enjoys incorporating her own style into creative portraits and event photography. Jennifer is also beginning to teach private classes in Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom. She hopes upon graduating from college to return to InStyle Magazine as a Photo Editor.
