Artist Statement

Growing up, I've enjoyed reading books about animals, sneaking extra sweets from the kitchen, watching far too much Disney and Japanese animation, all while drawing out my own characters and scenarios. As an artist and college student, I refuse to grow up. I am currently working on my AFA in Visual Arts at Raritan Valley Community College, with plans to transfer. I also work with animals as a part time veterinary technician. With a love for animals, they are oftentimes the focus of my work, stylized to reflect the anime influences from my childhood, while striving to preserve my own originality. My favorite medium is ceramics, I enjoy pushing the believability of life in my characters, from their action to the expressions on their faces. While the content is often whimsical and child-like, I am careful and deliberate with the constructions of my clay creations. I also enjoy playing with screen print, copic markers, and felt. I hope that through my work, I can help spread smiles. Afterall, life is too short to be anything but happy.
