Brad was born in Reading, PA. As a young boy he relocated with his parents to the quaint town of Palmerton, in Carbon County, PA. Brad attended the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown, and was graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Economics.

At a young age Brad realized a deep appreciation for the Arts. Until more recently he allowed this fondness to remain in the background to focus on his promising ability in competitive running, and later on bicycle racing. A cycling accident resulting in total hearing loss in one ear brought him to a turning point in his life. This unfortunate event became the catalyst that helped him find his true passion in Black and White Photography.

Brad intentionally goes photographing without any preconceptions in mind. He is simply “looking”. He feels this approach allows him to be open to many possibilities he might otherwise overlook. To be challenging and moving to its viewers, Brad feels an image must be carefully composed to convey a sense of rhythm and symmetry. He believes each individual element within the photograph must collectively relate, and add to the overall strength of the image. Brad will often revisit a scene multiple times in anticipation of all the necessary elements coming together. Ultimately, he needs to feel himself within the tiny part of the world he is photographing.

Although largely self taught, Brad has taken numerous Photography courses. Most recently he had the distinct opportunity to study with master photographers Michael Smith and Paula Chamlee. The experience was truly inspiring. Additionally, he has immersed himself in the study of images by master photographers Ansel Adams, Edward Weston, Brett Weston, Wynn Bullock, Paul Strand, Walker Evans, George Tice, and Aaron Siskind to name a few.

Brad is his own harshest critic. He believes that one can always achieve a higher level. It is this belief that inspires him continually strive for technical and compositional excellence in his Photographs.

When not photographing, Brad enjoys listening to Jazz and Classical music. He feels a strong correlation between his love of photography and music.

Brad resides in Palmerton, PA. with his wonderful wife XiaoFei and their large cat Winston. His images are enjoyed by numerous private collectors. More recently Brad has begun to market his work to the corporate world.
