Artist's Statement

Colleen has been enamored of painting since before she can remember.
She attended the inaugural class of the South Carolina Governor’s School of the Arts and then earned her BFA in painting with a dual major in Art History from the Kansas City Art Institute. Colleen currently lives and works in central New Jersey.

Colleen works observationally and from memory. Her travels to Italy and Sicily and the landscapes of her childhood in Michigan and South Carolina often inform paintings whose gestural marks evoke emotive spaces.
