Individuals behind Capital Health’s new Hopewell hospital get to know the community at an event hosted by Win and Hildegard Straube.

On Monday, Sept. 14 from 6 to 8 p.m., Win and Hildegard Straube, owners of Pennington’s Straube Center office complex, invited members of the public to join them and representatives from Capital Health System for an informative meet-and-greet event entitled, “Envisioning the Future of the Capital Health Hopewell Campus.”

Held at the office space near the Bixby’s Way edge of the Straube Center site, the intimate gathering was organized as a way to help Capital Health officials familiarize themselves with the community – the community that will be served by Capital Health’s new Hopewell hospital, which is currently in development.

Individuals present at the event included Larry DiSanto, Capital Health System’s executive vice president and chief operating officer; Arline Stephan, executive director of the nonprofit, community-focused Capital Health Foundation; Elise Mannella, director of major and planned gifts for Capital Health Foundation; Gene Lorenzetti, owner of the adjacent Shoppes at Pennington shopping center; and Bill Meytrott, Pennington Borough’s public safety director.

“We’re very grateful to Mr. And Mrs. Straube for hosting this event,” said DiSanto. “Capital Health wants to be a very active member of the community; we want to be involved with the people for whom we intend to provide exceptional care. We’re hoping to do more events like this in the area.”

Before moving inside for a discussion/presentation (the opening remarks of which were provided by Capital Health president and CEO Al Maghazehe), attendees convened in the office building’s outdoor garden area. The event was catered with wine, fruit, cheese and other hors d’oeuvres.

“It’s a beautiful place to have this, and we’re pleased that the Straubes opened up their complex for us,” said Stephan. “This allows us to have face-to-face contact with the community, and it allows the community members to ask questions.”

The Capital Health Hopewell Campus is now being built on a 195-acre parcel of property on the east side of Scotch Road between the I-95 interchange and the Merrill Lynch complex. The hospital had its official groundbreaking on Oct. 31 of last year, and is expected to be completed by 2011. Featuring a wealth of amenities and green components, it is designed to be state-of-the-art. More information can be found by visiting:
