Artist Biography

Dana Stewart was born, October 10th 1951, and raised in California, where he developed interests in art, animals and surfing. (Early sculptural works were executed in various materials including ceramic sculpture and welded metal). During his Master's program at San Diego State University, Dana met Herk Van Tongeren, who introduced him to ceramic shell bronze casting.  Herk invited Dana to come east in order to do "research" at the Johnson Atelier. A two-week visit turned into 29 years (and counting)!
