Reingard Straumer, from Dresden, Germany, is a modern pioneer in the ancient art of needle graphics. Painstakingly performed stitches of colored threads on paper, cardboard or textile surfaces are arranged according to specific patterns, either free-flow or, more commonly, via digitally chosen designs, thus creating extraordinary visual, three dimensional effects. Surfaces adorned with such original art are used in room as well as in other decorations, and produced - one at a time - as very individual, personalized greeting card covers. High quality photographs of them, still stunning, yet far less vulnerable, are widely used in Hallmark type cards. Even in electronic displays, the designs transmit their three dimensional character and look like touchable art.
