Ebu-Arts Museum Sponsors Fine Art Contest

The Straube Center in Pennington has opened a new Ebu-Arts Museum within the halls of its complex and is celebrating its grand opening with a contest featuring a $10,000 grand prize.

Ebu-Arts, a new genre comprising visual arts that themselves are composed of visual arts, is the brainchild of Straube Center owner and developer Win Straube –– Ebu-Arts is Straube spelled backwards. At right is Straube’s own contribution –– a poster showcasing the stamps from all over the world he has collected during his travels.

According to his website,, “The concept of each lovingly rendered stamp contributing to one larger entity appealed greatly to Straube, yielding the inspiration to open the door and welcome all manner of artful materials that would, together, lead to similar entities.

“There’s a larger theme at work here, a theme that reflects the very human virtues of individuals lending themselves to something greater, while that something greater remains dependent upon the individuals’ unique assets.”

The contest seeks submissions in two or three dimensions that feature the beauty of a pre-existing handiwork. Submissions are due by Monday, September 10. Final contestants will be notified on November 5, and the winner will be announced November 20. At least 50 qualifying submissions by at least 50 artists must be received for the $10,000 grand prize to be awarded. All contestants’ work will be on display at the museum from December 7 through January 11, 2013. Visit, E-mail, or call 609-737-3322.
